I signed up yesterday for my first Marathon. I am scared. Now that I shelled out the money to do the race, "I WILL" follow through and do so. I have wanted to jump up to 26.2 from 13.1 for a long time now but I always had an excuse. I choose the OKC Marathon because it is in the spring and generally speaking I run better in the spring. That does mean many of my runs might have to take place indoors. I know that I will peak to 20 miles but that would be in late March or very early in April and the weather should be doable by then. I am going to use this blog to chronicle my journey. I will begin official training the last week in December. Three things that I know MUST happen are 1. I need to eat "cleaner" and watch my calorie intake because right now I am about 15 pounds heavier than this runner should be. 2. As much as I hate it, weight lifting needs to be a part of my training. 3. I will need to run more than three times a week, possibly 4-5 times a week.
